IMPORTANT: SiTech Valves Low Pressure Dry Suit Inflator Hose Voluntary Recall
Dear BARE Retail Partner
SiTech AB of Sweden manufactures inflate and deflate valves for dry suit manufacturers all over the world, including BARE. SiTech has informed BARE that they have received reports indicating that the BLACK flow restricting insert in the male threaded end of the Low Pressure suit inflation hose can become dislodged.
THE DISLODGED INSERT CAN AND HAS ENTERED THE LOW PRESSURE CHAMBER OF THE FIRST STAGE REGULATOR AND HAS IN TWO INSTANCES INTERRUPTED AIRFLOW. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY FATAL HAZARD.
SiTech has not yet received physical evidence that reveals the cause of the dislocation. In line with SiTech's philosophy of quality and safety, they have decide to take proactive measures to voluntarily file a recall notice for all hoses manufactured between June 2007 and February 2009.
In cooperation with our supply partner, BARE is assisting SiTech in the distribution of information. Please make sure you contact all your drysuit customers as quickly as possible to have them come in and get the inflation hose inspected.
PLEASE FOLLOW THIS EXACT PROTOCOL:
1) POST THIS NOTICE IN YOUR STORE.
2) ADVISE YOUR CUSTOMERS TO INSPECT THE HOSE END FOR THE BATCH NUMBER AS SHOWN ON THE SITECH WEBSITE.
3) LOOK FOR THE BATCH NUMBER ON THE LIST OF NUMBERS POSTED ON THE SITECH WEBSITE. (see picture below)
4) IF THE NUMBER IS NOT FOUND, THE HOSE IS NOT AFFECTED BY THE RECALL.
5) IF THE BATCH NUMBER MATCHES ANY ON THE LIST, REMOVE THE HOSE FROM THE LOW PRESSURE PORT OF THE FIRST STAGE AND INSPECT THE HOSE END FOR THE PRESENCE OF A BLUE, BLACK, OR GREEN PLASTIC FLOW RESTRICTION INSERT.
6) IF THE INSERT IS PRESENT, REMOVE IT AS PER THE INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEO ON THE SITECH WEBSITE AND DISCARD. NO REPLACEMENT IS REQUIRED. (See picture of inserts below)
7) IF THE INSERT IS NOT PRESENT, TAKE YOUR REGULATOR TO THE NEAREST AUTHORIZED RETAILER OR SERVICE CENTRE FOR YOUR BRAND OF REGULATOR FOR INSPECTION TO ENSURE THE INSERT HAS NOT ENTERED OR BECOME LODGED IN THE FIRST STAGE.
For further information on affected batch numbers and to view the instructional video, please visit the SiTech website at
www.sitech.se. You may also contact SiTech directly via email,
recall@sitech.se or phone in Sweden at 0046-523-15010. You can of course rely on your BARE Regional Representative, Agent, or Customer Service Representative to provide all the follow up you will require.
