Craig Willemsen, Instructor Certifier, Tech Instructor & Store Owner
Craig started diving in 1972 and for over 38 years has shown us that scuba diving is his passion. He has dove all around the world and keeps looking for new places to share with his clients. He continues to expand his own skill set, becoming the first instructor in the Pacific Northwest to become certified to teach others on the Inspiration and Evolution rebreathers. Craig now is spending most of his underwater time using the Sport KISS Rebreather.
Craig's work and dedication has paid off. Craig holds the highest Instructor rating with SSI, and is on the editing committee for all new SSI training materials. In 2006, Craig was awarded the esteemed SSI Platinum Pro 5000 Diver AND Instructor Award (only 14 awards were given nationally that year). Craig holds many Instructor certifications with SSI, TDI, IANTD and ANDI.
Craig has over 6,000 dives, almost 2,000 of which are rebreather dives. You can catch him most weekends underwater, somewhere in the world. (Weekdays you'll find him at Silent World!)
Bryan Muscutt, DCS Instructor
Look for the blond fin cutting through the water and under it you will find Bryan. Bryan became a certified diver at Silent World in 1999 and has been an instructor since 2000. Bryan spent some time instructing in Mexico and plying the waters off California, but the pull of the Northwest called him back and he has been a full time employee at Silent World since early 2006. Bryan's favorite local dives include Waterman's Wall, Sunrise, Keystone Jetty and anywhere in the San Juan Islands.
Bryan has dove in Puerto Vallarta, Cozumel, Roatan, Coco's Island, Hawaii, and much of the west coast from San Diego up to Port Hardy.
Matt Westphal
, DCS Instructor
Matt has logged over 750 dives since he started diving in 1997 and most of those have been in the Pacific Northwest. Since becoming rebreather certified in 2001, Matt is reluctant to dive anything else. He is currently diving an Evolution.
Matt became an instructor in 2001 and holds certificates with SSI & TDI. He is also a DAN O2 and Medic First Aid/CPR instructor.
Matt enjoys showing open water divers how to build onto their skills to move to the next level of diving. Look for him at the front the classroom as you move up the dive ladder.
David Boyovich, AOW Instructor
David enjoys taking new divers out on local dives and teaching them how to have a good, successful, and enjoyable diving experience. David believes that his over 20 years of experience in teaching and competing in Martial Arts (he has a black belt in three different Martial Arts: Aikido, Hokkaido, and Taekwondo) will be a great asset in teaching others to dive. We agree!
David enjoys diving ship wrecks, Canada's incredible walls, and playing with sea lions. In the future, David plans to get closed circuit rebreather certified, get some more warm water dives in, expand on his instructor certifications and complete a triathalon with his wife.
Darrell Davis, AOW Instructor
Darrell has logged over 700 dives since becoming certified in 2004. He has been very active in both training and travel. Step onto just about any boat and there you will see his smiling face. Darrell is rebreather certified and currently has 450+ dives on his Evolution.
Darrell has dove along the West Coast from San Diego, Ca. to Port Hardy, BC, Canada. He has also travelled extensively with dives in the Philippines, Costa Rica, the Caribbean, Mexico, Florida and Indonesia.
Teaching genes are in his blood and we are very excited to have Darrell as an instructor. Way to go Double D!!
Bill Bennett, AOW Instructor
Bill started diving in 1995 and has done the majority of his 1600 dives in the Pacific Northwest. He became a certified SSI instructor in 2001 and likes to keep challenging himself as a diver by earning more certifications. The next class on his list is to become a KISS Rebreather Diver. While Bill loves the diving opportunities that living in the area afford us, he also ejoys slipping away to warm water destinations. He has dove in Fiji, Micronesia, Mexico, the Bahamas, Roatan and Bonaire.
Bill Zanke, Dive Control Specialist
Bill became a certified diver in 1991, but life didn't present opportunities for much diving at the time. Bill's interest in marine life and his dream of exploring the ocean like Jacque Cousteau led him to become recertified as an open water diver in early 2008. Since then, Bill has logged over 125 dives. He finds that each dive brings a new experience and is an adventure that challenges you both physically and mentally.
Bill has dove in Japan, the Philippines, Costa Rica, Florida Keys, Cabo San Lucas, Puget Sound and Canada. His dive wish list includes Chuuk, the Galapagos Islands and Cocos Island, Costa Rica.
When not diving, you may find Bill taking pictures as he hikes in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
Rob Knight, Dive Control Specialist
Rob has wanted to become a certified scuba diver since he was a little boy, and in 2007 he turned that dream into a reality. Thus far, all of Rob's 200+ dives have been in local waters. For Rob, diving not only fulfills his passion for being on the water, but it challenges him at the same time. An avid outdoorsman, Rob also enjoys boating, fishing and hunting.
